  • Foot valves are a type of check valve
  • They differ in that the flow area is larger in size than the rest of the pipe.
  • This limits the amount of head loss in the pumping system
  • Foot valves work by ensuring that the water flows in one direction.
  • Installation of a foot valve in the suction piping is mandatory, resulted in the liquid doesn’t drain from the pump casing or suction piping when the pump stops
